I'M A COMEDIAN; WHY AM I PAYING TO PERFORM?
First off, we're trying to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association, which is pretty cool, and you're awesome for wanting to be a part of that. Secondly, a lot of time and a bit of money goes into putting a festival together. Monies raised go to cover the cost of the festival, and then overages go to the charity. So see, even if you don't get accepted, consider yourself a good person. If this stops you from submitting, we understand. Don't be mad at us and we're not mad at you. If you still want to be a part of the festival, we will be announcing volunteer positions via social media in March so stay tuned for those!
ARE TRAVEL AND LODGING COVERED?
No, if you are selected to perform you are responsible for your own travel expenses to and from the festival. We will provide information and we are working on discounted rates for lodging (tbd).
IS THIS A CONTEST?
No, this is not a contest. Just have fun!
IF THIS ISN'T A CONTEST, WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?
Well there are several things. First, bragging rights; it always feels awesome to be chosen doesn't it? Second, you will have the chance to network with other comedians outside of just your zip code. Third, multiple shows for new and attentive audiences. The people of Oscoda love this festival, and come out to laugh. Fourth, you get that warm fuzzy feeling of helping raise money for a great cause. We could keep going, but I think by now you get the point!
HOW LONG DOES MY VIDEO SUBMISSION NEED TO BE?
Our screening committee will only be watching the first five minutes of your video. Try to make sure your video is at least four minutes if possible, but they will only be screening the first five minutes.
IF I GET SELECTED TO PERFORM, HOW MANY SHOWCASES DO I GET?
Each comic will get at least two shows with at least 7 minute sets each show.
WILL THERE BE ANY INDUSTRY AT THE FESTIVAL?
As much as we’d like to say yes, we can’t make any promises. Instead of spending money to bring industry or big names, we’d rather donate that money to the Alzheimer's Association. Some industry may decide to attend on their own and that's always welcome.
HOW MUCH IS THE SUBMISSION FEE?
$25 (USD) The fees do not go up as the deadline for submissions get closer.
WHEN IS THE SUBMISSION DEADLINE?
The festival submission deadline is SATURDAY FEBRUARY 1st, 2020.
WILL I BE REFUNDED IF I DON'T GET SELECTED?
No refunds will be given. Please note once again that profit from this festival will be going to the Alzheimer's Association.
